The first meeting of the Two Wells Red Cross for 2026 was held on Tuesday, 3 February. Di Henwood read out the minutes of the previous meeting, noting we had a break over the Christmas period.
Chris Hill gave a very formative Treasurer’s Report (as usual) and having sent a good amount down to Head Office. It was a fantastic effort to see a great turnout for the Christmas Street Parade Red Cross Stall.
Even the Raffle prizes exceeded expectation, as they were only going to do five prizes, but had to make it seven as they had so many donations for this raffle, and they were big ”baskets”.
More than $600 was raised. It was also noted Mollie Frost collected the donation tin from the Two Wells Bakery and it always brought in a pleasing
amount, so a big thank you to the bakery for allowing Red Cross to have the fundraising tin.
It is also noted the Two Wells Chemmart helped with the sales of raffle tickets as well as the Rising Sun Hotel in Port Wakefield, again a big thank you.
Secretary, Di Henwood is looking into a Community First Aid Course, and Judy Heaslip has managed to get an APP for Drakes Supermarket, that you can scan your receipt and Two Wells Red Cross receives a fundraising amount.
Discussion arose about filling each month with a speaker, or entertainment, and also liaising with Probus and Uniting Friends.
The Two Wells Melodrama was also mentioned as Red Cross do a lot of volunteering for this event, over three weekends in May, but it is getting a bit more difficult with members getting just a bit older every year!
The March meeting will host Ann Dugan from the Adelaide Plains Council, so it should be very interesting. A lot is happening in and around Two Wells, so come along and hear what she had to say.
The April meeting is hosting Andrew Quinn from Red Cross Headquarters.
As previously mentioned Red Cross meet on the first Tuesday of each month, so the next meeting date is 3 March, beginning at 1pm in the Catholic Church Hall. All welcome.
