Pamela welcomed everyone present, and thanked the friends and visitors, some from Red Cross and Probus for joining in.

We had our Easter meeting a bit early, but we do not have a meeting closer to Easter, which is Good Friday on 3 April. Our next meeting is on 16 April, too late for Easter.

Jim Pederick was then asked to give a devotion to start this event. It was a very meaningful devotion. Thank you Jim.

Pamela gave a talk about the meaning of the hot cross bun and mentioned how Easter is a time when families usually get together and celebrate.

Whether people are Christian or not they usually eat hot cross buns sometime over Easter. Hot cross buns used to only appear in shops after

Ash Wednesday, but now you can usually find them any time after Christmas.

Pamela also mentioned about the Christian Church representations of the humble hot cross bun.

The shape of the bun represents the stone that is rolled away from the tomb. The yeast makes the bun rise, signifying Jesus rising from the dead. The mixed spices in the bun are the spices that the women brought to put on Jesus’ body.

Hot cross buns are a wonderful way to tell the Easter story of Jesus death and resurrection. As you eat your buns over Easter this year, share with someone the Good News of Jesus and tell the story, use a hot cross bun to help you!

It was then time to eat, drink tea/coffee /milo and particularly socialise. Special thanks to the Uniting Church for donating the hot cross buns provided by the Two Wells Bakery.

The next meeting will be on 16 April and the next meeting will be a visit to Middle Beach! Organised by Stuart and Roy, it should be very interesting.

Please feel comfortable in attending our Uniting Friends meetings, a great time of fellowship. Contact Pamela Duncan 0409 002 201 if interested in finding out more about this Group of Friends.
